About Swansboro EMS/Rescue
Swansboro EMS/Rescue Squad is made up completely of volunteers from our community. The members of the squad do not get paid for the services that they provide. Rescue squad members are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Swansboro EMS/Rescue provides first responder services to assist Onslow County Emergency Medical Services. The goal is to shorten the time between the actual 911 call to the time that a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) can arrive on scene. Members usually run these calls in their privately owned vehicles (POV) with red warning lights. If you see one of these do not be alarmed and if possible, yield the right of way to them. If needed Swansboro EMS/Rescue has 2 ambulances that are capable of transporting patients. We also provide standby's (standby is where we provide an ambulance and crew on site in case of injury or an illness) for sporting events and special events for organizations such as Swansboro High School football games. We also provide rescue services such as vehicle extrication. We do this in cases where a vehicle has been in a crash and the occupant is trapped. We use specialized hydraulic tools made by Amkus and TNT-Rescue. Members spend their time training to update on new procedures and techniques and also to reinforce what they have learned to help give the best care possible. Donation fund raising and Onslow County tax payers fund the squad. If you are interested in making a tax deductible donation, please contact Michael Vance, Treasurer, Swansboro EMS/Rescue Squad. |
